LOAS for Mobile Devices

Field data entry and analysis on your cell phone or PDA.

LOAS-sd is a version of our popular LOAS radio telemetry software for supported mobile devices.

LOAS-sd allows you to enter and store hundreds of bearing groups on your mobile device and verify your radio telemetry data values in the field, as you acquire them, in real time. You may either later download the data to your computer, or transmit data from the field using your wireless data plan, for further analysis using LOAS or other software. Aside from standard data file formats, data output options also include popular mapping formats such as Google Earth KML files.

With supporting devices you can use GPS to enter your receiver stations and calculate and view location estimates directly on your mobile device. Support is also provided for loading fixed stations into a selectable database list for quickly entering known locations as well as manual entry of receiver locations if you do not have GPS or fixed station support.

We have provided a limited function online demo for you to try out the application (requires a Java Applet plug-in in your browser).

If GPS support is not built into your phone, or if it is not allowed by your carrier, you can get GPS support by using consumer grade or professional grade external Bluetooth GPS devices. (Note: These references are provided as information only and come without any assurance of actual hardware compatibility).

Supported devices:

Most devices that have a JavaME virtual machine and runtime environment pre-installed.

Examples: Many (but see Note) Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung mobile phones that run Series 40, 60 or Symbain OS.
Note: each device is dependent on the manufacturer which pre-installs the JavaME options differently than other manufacturers; so not all devices are equal nor may they be compatible with LOAS-sd. If in doubt, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
Possibly supported (depends on device manufacturer if they included the proper JavaME runtime):

WindowsCE, Windows Mobile, Palm OS (but not WebOS)
If your Windows or Palm device lacks the Java runtimes, it may be possible to install a third party JavaME virtual machine. Contact us for possible options.
Not currently supported but targeted for future support:

Android OS
Not supported at all:

iPhone, WebOS (Palm Pre or Pixi).

"LOAS-sd" is in prerelease. We are making the application available to a selected number of users who request a trial version for field testing and comment.

Contact us to request a trial copy of LOAS-sd.

To provide the most optimal experience with the trial, please provide the make and model of your hardware so we can determine if it is compatible.

If you are in North America and wish to use a mobile phone, please also include your carrier as not all North American phone companies allow loading of third party applications to their handsets.

If you are unsure about compatible hardware, we can recommend some hardware options.
