GPS Serial to USB Hardware Solutions
A standard serial port connection is required to connect GPS units to ESS software that have GPS functions. Most high quality GPS units can be used with either a USB or standard serial cable, but the serial cable may not be shipped with your unit. You may need to purchase a serial cable for your GPS separately. Either contact your GPS manufacturer or purchase from a third party supplier* such as:
Some modern computers do not have a serial port connection as part of their standard hardware. In these cases, a USB to Serial port hardware connection can be purchased allowing you to connect your GPS with a serial cable to your computer's USB port via this special hardware as an intermediate communication system.
