Biotas™ is a statistical and GIS tool for Windows® written for ecologists and resource professionals.
Biotas has been designed to assist in the analysis and understanding of spatial and temporal data. Studies that can benefit from Biotas include, but not limited to, those dealing with wildlife, fisheries and plant or animal ecology. Functions include home range, habitat use, movements, nearest neighbors, spatial randomness tests and more. |

File Formats:
Biotas accepts location data (also known as point pattern data) as either query files or database tables in either *.dbf (DBase), *.xls (Excel) or ASCII file formats. Full SQL (Structured Query Language) use is supported. Biotas exports location data variables in ASCII, *.dbf, and *db formats, as well as Windows® clipboard copy and paste functions. Importation support for coverages includes ArcView® shape files, MapInfo Interchange format and *.dxf files. Biotas exports coverages (such as generated home range contours) as ArcView Shape files, ArcInfo® compatible text files or as *.dxf files.
